How to Save Reels
Find the Reel
Open the Reel in Instagram. Tap the three-dot menu or the share button, then copy the link.
Paste the Link
Bring the Reel link to InstaFD and paste it into the input field above.
Save Your Reel
Select your preferred quality and save. The Reel is now yours to watch offline anytime.
Which Reels Links Work
Instagram has shipped several URL shapes for Reels over the years. The current ones and the older ones both work.
| Link shape | What you get |
|---|---|
| instagram.com/reel/{id} | The current shape. This is what the Share sheet gives you today. |
| instagram.com/reels/{id} | An older plural variant still in circulation. Handled the same way. |
| instagram.com/p/{id} | Some Reels are also reachable through a feed-post URL. Works identically. |
Reels Saving Features
Crisp HD Playback
Reels are saved at the highest available quality, preserving every detail of the original short-form video.
Watch Anywhere Offline
Once saved as MP4, your Reels play on any device — perfect for offline viewing during commutes or travel.
What Happens to the Audio
The Reel is fetched
Video and audio arrive together as a single MP4 — they are not separate streams you have to recombine.
The track is left alone
Whether it is the creator's own audio or a licensed track from Instagram's music library, it is preserved untouched.
You get the whole thing
The saved file plays exactly as it did in the app, sound included.
What You Actually Get
| Detail | Result |
|---|---|
| Format | MP4 with the audio track embedded. |
| Orientation | Vertical, as posted. No letterboxing or re-cropping is applied. |
| Resolution | Instagram's stored copy. Reels are compressed fairly aggressively on upload, so expect the file to be smaller than a camera original. |
| Instagram's own watermark | If the Reel was made in another app and carries that app's watermark, it stays — it is burned into the video, not an overlay we can remove. |
| Our watermark | None. We add nothing. |
| Cover image | Not returned separately. The MP4's first frame is the cover. |
