Save Instagram Stories

Stories vanish in 24 hours. Catch them before they're gone — save photos and videos from any public story.

Instagram Stories are fleeting by design, disappearing after just one day. If there's a story you want to hold onto — a recipe, a travel tip, a memorable moment — InstaFD lets you capture it before the clock runs out.

How to Save Stories

1

Get the Story Link

Open the story in Instagram. Tap the three-dot menu and select 'Copy Link' to grab the direct URL.

2

Paste It on InstaFD

Head to InstaFD and paste the story link into the input field.

3

Save Before It's Gone

Download the story as a photo or video file. It's now saved permanently on your device.

Which Story Links Work

InstaFD reads the link you paste, so the shape of that link decides what comes back. These are the forms Instagram hands out and what each one yields.

instagram.com/stories/{user}/{id}One specific story frame — the exact photo or video you were looking at when you copied the link. The most precise option.
instagram.com/stories/highlights/{id}A highlight reel saved on the profile. Highlights do not expire, so these links keep working long after the original story is gone.
instagram.com/{user}Whatever stories that account has live right now. Useful when you want everything currently posted rather than one frame.
instagram.com/p/{id}A regular feed post, not a story. It still works — you will just get the post instead. Use the Photo or Carousel page for those.

Story Saving Features

Beat the 24-Hour Clock

Stories expire quickly. InstaFD processes them fast so you never miss content that matters to you.

Save Without Revealing Yourself

When you save a story through InstaFD, the account owner won't know you accessed it.

Why the Account Owner Never Sees You

  1. You paste a link

The link goes to InstaFD. Your browser never contacts Instagram, and you are never asked to log in.

  2. Our server fetches it

InstaFD requests the public story data itself. Instagram sees our server, not you or your account.

  3. The file reaches you

You get the photo or video back. Nothing was written to the story's viewer list, because you were never in it.

This is also the reason private accounts cannot work. Anonymity comes from never logging in — and content behind a follow request is only visible to an account that is logged in and approved.

What You Actually Get

No re-encoding happens on our side. Whatever resolution and bitrate Instagram serves is what lands on your device.

Photo storiesSaved as JPG at the resolution Instagram delivers. No cropping, no resizing, no recompression.
Video storiesSaved as MP4 with the audio track intact. Stories that were posted without sound stay silent — we do not add one.
Quality choicesWhen Instagram offers more than one rendition of the same story, every option is listed with its file size so you can pick before downloading.
WatermarksNone. InstaFD never stamps anything onto the file.
Instagram accountNot required. You do not log in, and you do not connect an account.
Cost and limitsFree, with no per-day cap on how many stories you save.

Story Saving FAQ

Can I save stories from any Instagram account?
You can save stories from any public Instagram account. Private accounts require you to follow them, and their stories cannot be accessed through third-party tools.
Will the account owner know I saved their story?
No. Saving a story through InstaFD is completely anonymous. It does not register as a view on the story owner's account.
Can I save both photo and video stories?
Yes. InstaFD handles both formats. Photo stories are saved as JPG files, and video stories are saved as MP4.
What if the story has already expired?
Once a story has been removed from Instagram, it can no longer be accessed or saved. You'll need to catch it while it's still live.
Can I save highlighted stories?
Yes, highlighted stories that remain on a public profile can be saved just like any other story content.
